Heard this story on the local news this morning

TEN years old??? damn...
A 10 year old girl gives birth in Spain and her mother couldn't be happier. The Romanian Gypsy says she's "delighted" to have a new granddaughter and doesn't understand why the birth was such a shock to anyone, let alone why it became and international sensation.
Spanish authorities haven't said much about the young mother in order to protect her privacy. But in comments released yesterday, her mother told reporters that the baby's daddy is a 13 year old boy who still lives in Romania and is no longer in the picture.
The 10 year old girl and her baby plan to stay in Spain, according to her mother. She identified herself only as Olimpia and looks like she's in her 30s but no one knows for sure.
Olimpia also said she didn't understand the attention the pregnancy was getting because she and her daughter are Romanian Gypsies and their culture allows girls to marry young even though it's against the law in Romania.
"That's the way we get married," the girl's mother told reporters Tuesday outside the modest apartment building in the southern town of Lebrija where the family lives.
Meanwhile, Spain is outraged by the story and their social welfare system is determining whether the girl and her mother can carry for the baby. The girl moved to the country three weeks ago and the baby was born last week.
Spanish prosecutors are also looking into whether the parents might be guilty of any negligence if the 10 year old child was not registered for school or had not been taken to the doctor in her final months of pregnancy.
According to the Huffington Post, "Under Spanish law, having consensual sex with someone under age 13 is classified as child abuse. But a Justice Ministry official said this particular case is complicated, because the alleged father is not in Spain and is also a minor. It is not clear whether he could be charged, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of ministry policy."
