1. How do you get the older child to keep small toys out of babies reach or not leaving the door to his room closed (no matter how often you close it) or putting the toys in their designated storage containers?

2. When within less than a minute of giving instructions the instructions are ignored causing the infant to possibly swallow a small toy what is a fitting discipline action? (I am currently confiscating all small toys as I type, including Lego, beyblades, hot wheels). Is that too much?

I am trying to remember....but i think my two were relatively close in age, so older one didn't have toys with small pieces when younger was a baby.



the legos are def a problem (not sure what beyblades are...don't remember if the hot wheels are really that small)

at the same time try teaching the small one not to put stuff in his mouth

no its not

when my daughter was little we decided we were not going to have to hide every little thing in the house we were able to train her not to touch stuff and not put things in her mouth ..it just takes a little effort.

but it used to drive us crazy when other kids came to the house because they were into everything

Rich this isn't about hiding/putting away every little thing and till he gets the lesson of not putting everything in his mouth still want him to be safe. Still want the next one to learn responsibility in taking care to prevent hurt/injury to his sibling.
