bumpers or no bumpers....

so i like crib bumpers bcus i think they look cute plus i can sneak in and out of the room w/o baby seeing me.

fi bout a week now mi tek the bumpers out of her crib so she can "explore". i notice she was trying to hold on and stand up but she kept holding the bumper and it wasnt supporting her.

now mi tek dem off mi notice sometimes if she wake fi a while and a move up and down mi wi go in an find her wid one foot out of the crib ie she push one foot thru the bars and cant get dem out....least i tink she cant get dem out. so far she no seem to be in any pain or neting from doing this but i would hate for her to hurt herself.

i am thinking of putting the bumpers back ....but i have also heard the theory of bumpers not being safe cus dem coould sufficate. i would hate for her to pull on the bumper while trying to stand and then some how get stuck btwn crib and bumper....

seem like mi just a create some worse case scenarios but i guess dats wat moms do. mi never coulda understand how my modda love worry and fret so over wat seem like trivial matters.

so ....are you guys for or against the use of crib bumpers? mi trying to weigh out the pros and cons so mi picking oonuh brains.

I have heard about the suffocation risk of the bumpers but never actually knew anyone who it happened to or heard about a case on the news. If I had a baby, I would use them.

Interesting about her standing and putting her feet out.

I'll tell you a story my mother told me about myself. Before I could walk, she would put me in my crib and then later I'd come crawling down the hallway. It scared her half to death because she couldn't figure out <span style="font-style: italic">who or what</span> (lol) was getting me out the crib. Then one day she caught me. I would pull myself up on the crib to stand, swing one leg onto the dresser, put a foot on the drawer handle, and then jump to the floor. From there, I'd take off on my crawl to find her.

She claims I've been a bit &quot;own way&quot; from day one lol. I'd put the bumpers back if I were you.

If she climbing bumpers may not be a good idea since she might just get the help she need to come out. they have the breatheable ones that might help

Aden foot ever get stuck btwn the crib bars yet? mussi how she so wingy her thigh fits through the bars. di way mi find her is like she tink say she coulda did fit har whole body thru di likkle space

Apart from the suffocation theory (I idn't use one) some kids use it to climb up

yuh also need to make sure that the spaces between the rails are not big enuff for her head to get stuck

is a drop dung crib yuh have ?

no her head definately wont fit. she keeps bumping her forehead doe...tink dat is partly my fault. i started putting my head up against the crib and making kissy lips at her. now she does it back and sometimes approach the bars wid a tad too much force.

its a fixed crib...i dont think they sell drop sides nemore. to lower dis u have to lower the mattress itself.
