I think if I had a son that I'd name him Jacob. It's an old school name, but I like it. My next first name choice would be Tristan.

I'd work out my second name choices on his middle name. Doesn't Jacob Raphael "one or two syllable last name" sound pretty good?

I would strongly avoid names that reminded me of 70s tv sitcoms.

mi born in the 70s so mi can't think of any of these. mi thinking more cosby show and sanford and son type of names. what did u have in mind?

I was born in the 70s too, but I had TVland.

I'm not knocking anyone's preference (notice the disclaimer), but names like George, Willis, Harry, Fred, Clarence, Arthur, etc. don't seem suited to the new generation of children. It would be like if my mother had named me Bertha or something along those lines. How would I have gone through school at my time with a name like that?

I think using family names from great-grandparents, etc. is highly overrated.

FrenchT that you'd bring up Sanford and Son. That's what Bubba brought to mind from the first time I saw you write it. I think I would have gone with Grady lol. As annoying as Lamont was, I'd even still take that over Bubba.

bubba started as a joke - him PWT name (memba him puppa white but him not PWT). anyway, true as how mi suh uncreative di name just stick caw mi cudden come up wid nutten else. why u tink mi puss name Missy? i was under the gun to name her and dat was all mi cud tink of other people puss name tings like Mr. Charlie Bogglesworth or sinting charming like dat.

but mi still love george i think *some* old names ripe fi a comeback.

I think you watched a little more TVLand than you admitting. Well, whatever name you select other than Bubba, I know it will be perfect for him. (Perhaps you could spell it as "Jorge" so he could go with the hor-hay pronunciation if the mood so strikes him in the new millenium.)

LOL @ Missy. That was Krystal's nickname. It resulted from her acting like she didn't want Sterling to breed her but still switching her lil hips around his nose.

Had me fussing at him and putting her butt in a diaper while she was constantly giving him a whiff of it when I was not looking. Once I was on to her game, I started out "look here lil miss hot britches..." It went on from there but the nickname Missy stuck

Friend of mine just named her newborn boy Caleb. It means "faithful" apparently.

my boyfriend (altho him never know seh him was mi boyfriend) in prep school did name Caleb. nice old fashioned name wid a new fangled angle (fangle )

have a friend who did the same too. it very popular dese days (one of my no-nos) and mi jewish fren dem warn mi seh it mean "dog" in hebrew . mi may waan go israel one day so mi rule out that name
