the punishment did not fit the crime. She was pirating games off the internet and it was her webcam that recorded this. He should have just taken the computer away

He got really angry, but he controlled how often, and where, he hit her. He didn't "lose it" with his belt, although he came just this side of "losing it" with his temper.
I was not thrilled with his language, either. He should be able to speak to his 16-y.o. daughter without resorting to the use of the "f" word.
Personally, that many licks for pirating some games? I'd like to know the number of licks he initially intended for the 'crime' of pirating - before the girl's 'disobedience' and refusal to take her licks nicely. (She'd've done much better, I suspect, to just take her licks; far fewer and done.)Comment

listening to him talking to her - it doesn't sound like this is the first occurrence - along with other previous infractions
i remember having to go and get my own switch off the tree too - that was more painful than the belt and the beating

and i don't understand why she put this video out there now - 7 years later
now as an adult - i can say i deserved every spanking i got - well - maybe not the one my dad gave me when i was 21, married and living in my own place
and i think someone on this board said something like - parents can't discipline their kids but the government can send them to jailComment

that is what I am thinking.. If she was pirating the games only, then why does she even have a computer in her room

I don't have a problem, per se, with a child having either a t.v. or a computer in her room, if there's no trouble with said child... but if they have had repeated problems with the girl, those are the first two things that should be removed from that bedroom!Comment

She was on TV this morning (Today, GMA...on of them shows) with her mother. Mom is in the video. However, this morning when asked...mom has since apologized (after being told of video), left husband (after being told of video). Dad....didn't do those things....video gets put on YouTube
