yes it can be possible, and I believe that walkerswood e.g., has made a good name for itself, and shown it's viable,it's products as you know, are all over (here in the supermarkets too)

it also shows where the profits are in agriculture - in products more so than just produce, the jams, sauces etc have value added and the mark-up price is higher, also you can utilize the fruits & veggies that have bruises & nicks etc., which is what canners and processors do, for example; which you couldn't sell on the shelves.

I always say 99.9% of Jamaica has tourism potential but only selective coastline areas are developed for that sector. My Dad has acres and acres of land in the country that used to be a very large source for banana export by my grandfather. It still sits there with loads of cows on it. He pays someone to manage the land as he is involved in real estate elsewhere on the rock.

This land is near to a major tourist attraction and it's potential is huge but maybe he is waiting on me to return and do something with it???

Jamaica needs to take a page out of Dubai book. They know their oil will deplete in years to come and the king/Sultan has built a massively impressive palm island tourist resort with all mod cons, luxuries and amenities to impress. Wise investment move.

Jamaica need to wake up to the competition. Caribbean sun alone can't save tourism in Jamaica. They need to step up their game to compete. - (to the Minister of Tourism in Jamaica).

they dont have to go as far as Dubai - they can check the Bahamas [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] that palm island resort is a joint venture with the Dubai govt & Sol Kerzner. The Dubai sultan had been in Kerzner's Atlantis resort in Paradise Is, Bahamas, and asked Sol to develop one in Dubai - result the palm island resort, couple Bahamians have good positions there

(not sure that jamaicans want such a massive resort though)
