Spanish Village back on the market

Houses at Spanish Village, a new housing scheme being constructed in St Catherine by the Kenneth Black-owned Black Brothers Limited, have returned to the market after a two-year break to resolve sewage disposal issues.
"We had stopped for a while but returned to the market three weeks ago," sales representative Oneil Johnson told the Business Observer. "We had to resolve the issue of sewerage and we have now reached an agreement with Gore."
The development will use the sewage treatment facility constructed by Gore Developments for their close-by Inswood Estate housing scheme.
The Spanish Village scheme was first announced in 2003 but was stalled because of inadequate sewage treatment plans.
In total, 500 units are being offered to purchasers in the gated community and 53 houses have been completed and ready for occupancy, while another 22 are under construction, Johnson said.
According to the developers, the houses are "the largest housing units of their type in a gated community".
At 868 square feet, the two-bedroom houses are being sold at $5.8 million, while three-bedroom houses with 1,268 square feet of space are priced at $7.8 million each.
All the lot sizes are the same at 5,000 square feet, the developers said.
"We offer purchasers the choice of a two- or three-bedroom from the site plan and build accordingly, said Johnson.
The housing scheme, located along St Johns Road, Johnson said, posed no great problems for prospects. "It is close to Green Acres, an upscale community where generations have lived," said Johnson. "We have no resistance with the location."
According to Johnson, the community will have a jogging trail, a playing field, a commercial shopping area, community centre and its own stand-by water supply.
"We also have intentions to put in a police post," Johnson said.
