Well, I actually started on one of my contracts last night. They dont want to wait until end of the month when I am finished working...so I set up my VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection and did a quick over the phone training session on their software on my lunch break yesterday and worked last night for an hour and this morning while I sipped my coffee I worked for another 45 minutes. It really is soooooo easy and its what I have done professionally for 20+ years that I almost felt guilty when I think about what I will bill them at the end of the month...
I just cant wait until I am done here at my current job and I can work my own schedule and be there to pick my son up after school instead of sending him to a daycare...he has been in daycare since he was 3 months old...
Gotta go Laptop shopping now and try to find someone who will still sell me a unit with XP on it and NOT Vista...funny...the prices on units with XP are now double the price they were pre-Vista.
Congrats!!!...don't overspend...and please remember the Taxes - know the rules, and always save something should in case you end up owing. And if you end up owing at anytime - pay them off immediately or borrow the money - you will save some money this way.
The most valiable lesson I was taught mot in college, bur bu my great, grand father. It is that business is a roller coaster.
If you don't save more than the normal on creating a reserve, when you are flush with cash, you won't realize that it is,because you won't see the second upturn after the first down rurn.
And in business expenses can never be planned enough, to avoid the inevitable cash crunch. I always practice these and all my associates think I'm rich, because they work.
Good lick.

Dudd...whatchoo tryin to say? Its not THAT kind of business...but if you want to wish me some LUCK...I'll take it!
i'm not sure how things are in your state Ochi....but here in Maine...in fact, here where i work...we have business counselors funded by the Small Business Administration.
they provide business counseling free or for a nominal charge, and will help you with many aspects of running your business. They'll guide you with cash flow projections, market research and using the net for your business among other things. you can participate in workshops or one on one counseling.
cash flow projections help most banks AND lendees feel more at ease as they venture down the self employment road....provided the projections are realistic
Thanks Loops...I hadnt even thought of the SBA. I should look into what they have available in my area. GREAT IDEA!
Today is a celebration for me...I got my first check in the mail from my first client. Granted its only for $250...but HEY...its a start.
The nice thing is I am still working at my job and on payroll...so the money is already coming in before I am actually out there on my own. Of course I am putting in some long days...but it will be well worth it.
gone to find the SBA website....----->
