Last two times i mailed the packages thru USPS ...express mail.

the jamaican post man left a notice at the house and the person did have to go get it.

but the things dem did worth $100 or less...dunno if i would mail anything more expensive than that.

I sent it USPS priority, because anything over 4lbs is automatically priority. I didn't send it express because it already costs somewhere around $30 just to send it regular priority.

It wasn't a large package, just a couple of clothing items and a pair of shoes, so I didn't get insurance or anything. As far as tracking, the USPS says that once it leaves the country they can't track it anymore. It has usually taken 3-4 weeks in the past, but the last package took about two months and this one has been over two months without arriving. I can't afford to send packages through FedEx or DHL, it's really just ridiculously expensive. The shipping costs more than everything in the package. </span>

After tearing out my hair about lost packages to Jamaica, I've decided to wire the money instead and let the recipient buy their needed items there in Jamaica...sometimes at a saving.

Sometimes we send things as birthday gifts, or see something that one of the kids might like and pick it up for them. It's frustrating that we can't even do that. But I guess it might be better to just send the money. </span>

i mail things home like this:

FedEx or DHL
or send it wid someone
bring it miself

wire the money down there and have the person receiving funds buy what they need.

That says it all, they're offering a service they can't guarantee as, unlike FedEx and DHL, they have no distribution network Jamaica.
