Little V first day of school!

LOL yeah dat numeral ting seem so strange to me.

LV knew her abc before going to school but she wasn't able to tell you the name of letters. for last nite homework she saw letter A and proudly told me the name

I opened her note book and the teacher had drawn a mouth and LV colour it. as she see the pic she said "teacher said thats a mouth"

as mi type dis mi just memba pawt of the homework (she got 4 pages again) was dat mi supposed to send pics of mouth and tongue ....oooooopppssss. I totally forgot.

day 3 pick up time she (and a few others) fast asleep.
teacher say she did very well. she listened and stayed in her seat. she is getting the concepts that wen its play time its play time but sit dung time is sit dung time. She really enjoys the lunch time playing outside. surprise surpise she no want play wid her likkle class mates she want to run among the big 4 and 5 yr olds. Teacher was joking how wen she let dem out all she saw was just two likkle foot a cut thru the crowd

of course we had even more HW I mention yessideh say mi forget to send pics that the teacher had requested. mi dear di ooman write eina di pickney book "please complete ur HW" mi no know if mi fi laff or cry. wat a ooman fresh. neways mi cut out one heep a pics send gone go gi her.

day 4....today she didnt want to go. Not sure wat it was. When she woke i told her uncle was coming to see us (from St thomas) and she didnt seem to care so i dont know if that may be why she wanted to stay home? to see him?
we had a some what stressful morning. i had to comb her hair ( i try to do it to last a week/ few days but it needed combing today). she wasnt sitting still and i got a little frustrated. in my frustration i hit her ( on the fleshy part of her thigh with my bare hands) but to be honest i did hit too hard. she cried. mi coulda feel it. i felt so bad. I should have calmed myself but bcus mi a try hurry so we no late etc etc...

after the slap and i calm her a bit she say she no want to go to school today. she kept saying she want to stay with me. i asked her if its bcus i hit her and she say yes....one would think she woulda want get away from me bcus of that. neways i dont really know her reason cus at this age dem answer yes and no wen it no mek sense.

she made a big fuss didnt want to put on her uniform etc crying i dont want to go. wen we get to the car she run weh neways i calmed her dung she buggle up. we pick up the neighnour's kids... dem stawt lay wait mi now but i dont mind. i have to pass dem shcool neways so may as well save dem the fare...neways we drop dem off and drive go bout we business. as mi buss choo fi her school gate she stawt bawl again. i wanna go home. i wanna go home. i dont wanna go to school.

I am so paranoid mi stawt ask her if someting happened at school. i hightly doubt it though as this seem normal kid behavior. I tell her if she no want to stay i will tek her home but she should go in and say good morning first. I had all intention of honoring my promise too. neways wen we go she still a cry. teacher tek her out of my hands she no want to go. teacher finally calmed her dung and fren her up. she went to her seat and was quickly distracted by some ABC ting dem have on the computer.

I am here wanting to call the school every minute to find out how she doing but mi no want to bother dem. maybe we both going thru withdrawal cus i wanted to keep he with me today too. I feel so Ashamed that i lost control and hit her.

I may eventually just have to swallow my pride and get smaddy to do it for me sundays. Its still very short in some areas and its fine so it no keep long.
I African threaded it on sunday (tanks Tropi fi dat natual hair thread) and it looked ok as seen in pics. I will make one more go of it this sunday and see if i can get it to last till altleast Wednesday, then i can do it again wed night and dat should last again till sunday....that is my plan. it didnt work this week doe. yessideh morning i had to take it out bcus it looked messy. i sent her to skool wid it in little pomppoms. ie elastic little sections and leave the hair out. wen mi go school mi go see her with it plat up and twist up. teacher say she buss out all the elastics so dem just plat it up so she no look so bad. lol.

i know for sure it wasn't tight but she is a child who does not like clips and accessories in her hair. she dont have much hair to work with so mi always in a quandry. the women here just seem to can make magic wid the likkle bump a hair and ppl keep suggesting to mi i get someone to do it. I just feel like i should be able to tek care of my daughter's hair by myself. pride eh:frown: Mr V say mi fi just keep practicing and mi will be fine. poor guy wah else him fi say him no want hurt mi pride . and him a di fuss fi always a comment pan di cow horns dem mi put inna har head.

the elastic thing works/was working but i notice it also rips out hair so dats why mi decided to try the african thread. mi plat it dis morning (kinda copy how mi see teacher do it) and it never turn out so bad. it still looked messy like it jsut ready fi comb though. i grew up with hair being a big pain in the *** deal. every hair session started and ended with tears beating and drama. I vow not to put her thru all dat. wen mi deh farrin its ok to let her run around with nappy messy hair bcus everyting cute to dem white ppl, but here in JA ppl put such emphasis on hair mi feel like hers needs to be perfect. I am always getting comments about if mi cyan comb her hair etc etc etc. she no cry and so but she moody. today she may sit and watch tv and let u comb it, a next time she busy baddy. my personal thing is if she sit she sit, if not mek she go wid har head tan bad its not like she cares.... but i cant do dat bcus ppl ago 'say" tings.

mek someone else do it on Sundays while u hold har in u lap.

Most times my sister get someone else to braid my niece's hair and it stay for a good while. Niece have long-ish thick hair but sister just caan bodda most times i guess.

and of course my two i buzz them hair cause the only person hair that i want to have to worry bout is my own ....and even in that me nuh like too having to fuss too much.

eta: but make sure them not doing it too tight in trying to catch every strand of hair and make it neat and last long time

Stay away from di elastic and tight styles and keep it moisturized and she will eventually ketch on. Also don't detangle dry. A desso it will bruk awf.

mi did have nuff hair and thick. my problem was every sticken minute smaddy inna mi head and it would tek all live long day. and dem always a complain bout say mi nah hold mi head and mi hair too nuff and mi hair too tick and mi hair too tuff and mi hair too course....as if mi did beg dem fi go in deh

memba we would only get half the pencil at a time. fuss u get the part wid rubba then the part widdout. and dem never provide a seperate eraser so mi no know how dem did expect we fi erase tings. den again mi memba mi used to nyam the eraser like is food. even the pencil lead we use to eat. savior devine. human body really made to last.

she has wet herself every day so far at school. today i ask her y she never ask to go to the bathroom (teacher didn't even know she wet but i wont judge cus the uniform dark it no show wet spot and she may not tell dem she wet up), she tell me she no go a di bathroom cus in deh dawk poor child. i assume dem keep the bathroom lights off. I think bcus LV is used to going by herself (most the times she only call mi in after to clean up) she may not be asking the teacher, and instead trying to go alone and find out say she cant get in or dat its dark so she just piss up harself. who knows. I know the other day teacher say she wait till last minute to say nething. Its only first week so maybe its just new surroundings and new faces that is to blame.

Too many sudden changes: back to Jamaica, leaving Canada home, doting grandparents in Canada, school, leaving Mommy every day, hair

Maybe have her own little "school" at home each day where she can teach dolly, puss, Grandpa, every morning as part of play.

yes pz that is a very a valid point. i have thought of that.

she walked in this morning gave teeacher a big smile. teacher was like hi k, wow u so happy today. as mi mek mi leff she stawt bawl and hold on pan mi. then she peed herself.

i left the teacher cleaning her up etc. dem say mi fi galang cus as mi gone she sekkle dung and she is fine the rest of day.

i mention the dark bathroom. teacher say yes maybe baby find it dark fi true bcus the light not working. she said she thought the window was giving enough light but obviously not. dem gonna get it fix. lets hope

i picking up her Dad today so seeing him will make a world of difference. I will mek sure to spend time together this weekend to mek thing seem more back to normal for her etc. I think she did well. next week should be great
