Sometimes children are luckier than parents

Twice now my son has been cast in stuff and he didn't even have to try out for it. he isn't even that available as he is at school most of the year and he just got booked for something for Tuesday.

First time he tried out for something after all the cautions I gave him...don't be disappointed it takes a long time to get results...boom by the time we got home there was a message waiting for him "you got it".

Do you find your children are luckier than you are and that doors open more easily for them.

Some parents may say their children are more talented than they are. Congrats on your son's talent.

Well he is definitely more athletically talented than me...much more. I am a disaster when it comes to athletics. It took me forever to learn to canter. He picked it up in months. I was riding over a year and still was nervous about cantering and he was whipping around the arena on a pony saying canter Mommy, you can do it. I can do it now but man it took forever.

There isn't a sport he hasn't done well at and I got pure Fs in gym.....in high school I found every excuse to skip gym class too.

That's how it is, you know. Life is not about competition or about one upmanship or comparing yourself to others. (Well it is for some people but they're never really happy, are they?).

You are fortunate to have a talented and focused son.

Yes he certainly is focused on his sports. when comes home next week I wonder if I am into one of those "It's really important I will need regular access to the TV as ______ playoffs are on." announcements. Well he certainly has learned good negotiation and compromise skills that should stand him in good stead when he marries.
