in the past...no. but since ja.com and grandma's stern influence...i will occasionally clean my chicken up with vinegar...but other meats...no.

this rinsing of the rice is a new one on me too.

i'm a slow learner.

I think probably because they are pressed for time. I guess and I'm hoping most people wash their foods before preparing.

are you serious Loops? I'm American but my parents are Jamaican. My mom taught me to clean chicken and fish with water then lemon and/or vinegar before cooking it. I guess I assumed this was a normal practice in the US period. Are you saying it is not?

the rice washing thiing i just started too

Bizi the worst I ever seen was RRay wiping off mushrooms
and celery with a dry paper towel

dont they grow mushrooms in horsebiscuits?

I wash all meat
my dil uses dishsoap

The reason to wash rice before cooking is to get rid of the starch present that makes the grains stick together....this was taught to me by one of the caterers I used to work for. He also would saute the rinsed and dried rice in a little oil before hhe would cook it....he made the best rice I ever had!

actually yes..some believe the hot wata in de washing machine does a betta job of sanitising baggies
