As a child the only way I ate rice was with butter and sugar, or rice with gravy. Did not start eating plain white rice until about 10 years ago.
Rice in our house was more of a breakfast food than for dinner.
Grew up in the south. -

I have never ever heard of such a thing (other than rice puddin but due to childhood trauma mi noh eat it

I Always add a bit of butter to my rice after I cook it and it is steaming hot out of the pot - but I havent had it as a "meal" in quite some time...
It used to be a staple of mine as a child - since i was a picky eater and would not eat most things my mom made for dinner.

Rice was breakfast in my home growing up too (usually included in Sunday brunch as <span style="font-weight: bold">Rice and Raisins</span>)
