Is time for me to start baking again.

As a teenager, I baked a cake or pie every weekend. After I went on my own, I stopped. Well purchasing bakeware wasn't on the top of my list of things to buy when setting up my own place.

Eventually I did purchase bakeware, but I got low-end stuff so of course they didn't last long.

I have been looking online and of course there are too many choices.
Springform
Glassware
Silcone
Brushed Steel
Aluminum
Stainless Steel
Hard-Anodized Aluminum

I'm looking for long lasting, pieces. I like glassware because it does well in the dishwasher, but I don't think its the best for baking cakes.

I'll probably bake puddings (potato, bread, pound cakes, lemon cakes, strawberry shortcakes, and maybe toetoe. I've never baked black cake and don't feel any burning desire to bake one. I would like to try baking a bun though.

So that's what I'll be baking. What's the recommendation.

I don't know the name of the one I have but it is teflon coated wid rubber on the handle part an I LOVE dem

it neva dear needa...but is Homesense or one a dem brand name discount place mi did get dem from.

try out di silicone one dem an mek mi know how dem work fi yu

I have di silicone pot holder/over mit and it also good for opening jars of tings

Pepper, I use the oblong glass baking pan for certain cakes &amp; brownies. They work great.

I have inexpensive &quot;Baker's Secret&quot; from the supermarket.
If you don't abuse it and keep it exclusively for baking it lasts just fine.

OK, so no teflon.

But which one of the materials rust easily? The old ones I had started rusting after a while.

<span style="color: #3333FF">I have a set of nonstick bakeware, I don't know if it's teflon or what. Lemme run check the brand... It's called Anolon. The handles have a silicone grip like Tanya was talking about.



I have three nonstick bread pans, I believe they're Baker's Secret and they're nonstick. I like them, baking is very easy in them.

As I think of it, I don't think they're teflon coated. They don't have that black interior like nonstick pots, it's a smooth coating that's inside and out.

I saw some aluminum pans that were inexpensive and I bought a couple. Won't do that again. Crap. They rust and have dark spots that made dark spots on the bread.

Oh yes, and I have a silicone pan that makes mini loaves and I love it. I wasn't sure if the silicone could sit directly on the oven rack but it can. The silicone can be hard to clean.

Oh yes again, and I have a few glass pans that I have used to make long cakes. But when I want a layer cake, I go for the metal pans.</span>

The best pans to buy are made by WILTON. You can get them in Michael's and with the 40% off coupon every week, they're not too expensive. They don't rust and always bake up good.
I've tried the teflon, metal...everything inbetween but always do good with the Wilton pans.

I took nanceejay's suggestion and ordered a WILTON pan.
