Has anyone been able to even eat Ackee lately?

Given the economy and how people are budgeting wiser now, has anyone been able to get ackee recently? I surely haven't and it's like $14 a can and that kinda goes over my budget. Perhaps you meat eaters are used to spending so much for one single food item but most of us aren't. Outside of NYC, ordering it cooked is hard after breakfast time.

Is there any economical way to get ackee?

I paid 8.99 a can for it last week, but it was the Governer sittin nedda brand an di ackee come out mushy mushy

But that is the same price as it was here last week this time.

is di saltfish expensive up yah an to think is Canada it mek...an mi noh know any other people weh eat it as much as West Indians do it should be much cheaper here

yu know, Lorna buy a whooole heap of the Grace ackee and she have it in the bottom pantry and she did pay 5.99 at the time...

awwwmmm there is still three bags in the freezer ... and i'm getting more month end ....I get a pound of saltfish for $8 ... oh and there is breadfruit in the freezer too...and more coming

Yes.

It's expensive but in that week when it's bought, I just tune out the price...and make chicken soup laden with okra, chocho and yam for at least two more meals.
