I see ur going to fry up some sprat. I brought some tin one de other day but it juss didn't taste like i remembered (<span style="font-style: italic">and is donkey yrs since i had it</span>)so i decided to try frying the remainder...

me nu tink me eva see anyone actually cook sprat

Jaded no special recipe just

clean fish
wash w/lime juice
pat dry
season w/salt and black pepper
fry
saute onion, scotch bonnet pepper and vingar
pour over fish
enjoy

Never hear of tin one them.

Check the fish shop them in broklyn, its 4lbs in the box frozen but not frozen hard.

Let me know how it turn out.

omg...i LOVE smelts. we can get them in the winter thru the ice on the river.

or soon....they'll migrate up the streams...and we can dip them out with nets in the nighttime.

we just dust them in flour, and fry them up in oil.

you CAN escoveitch them after that if you wish.

i just googled it..sprat and smelt not the same..but if i get a chance to try fried smelts..i will

Smelts have some in the fridge now. Just fry them up with nuff pepper, yum yum.

i've seen them fried whole. what about the guts?
