So much ham I don't know what to do with it!

It made sense to buy it though, it was only 99 cents a lb and it weighs 5 lbs and there is only me to eat it.

Of course I will freeze some.

I'll use some mixed with refried beans for some tasty burritos and I imagine I'll make some scalloped/au gratin taters along the way.

I hate sandwiches.

I cannot eat cold meat no matter what, in fact I can't eat cold food.



So who has some fun things to do with left over ham?

Pea soup sounds good, but a small batch cause I don't like it after freezing. Umm, with eggs is a possibility but I'm not big on eggs although they come I handy in a pinch.

I'm a terribly fussy eater and getting worse in my old age.

I just thought of one thing I used to eat at a restaurant in Mpls. It's a sandwich but it's hot and tasty. put ham, pineapple and swiss cheese on dark rye bread and make a toasted sandwich. I wish they sold half loaves of bread because I'll prolly eat a few pieces then the rest of the loaf will go moldy. I hardly ever eat bread.

Mawnin, I haven't eaten pork since, hmmm 1972, maybe 74, can't tell you how to solve that dilemma, but I also don't eat much bread, so I always put the fresh whole wheat bread right into my freezer and take out a piece at a time when I need it. It takes only minutes to thaw and is almost as fresh as the day I bought it.

Maybe since you don't like cold sandwiches and not much bread, how about an open face sandwich, grill the ham first and melt cheese on top of it.

There seems to be so many people who love it, maybe giving some of it to neighbors who will enjoy it is an option too. You have many neighbors there in your neck of the woods??
