Honestly, I have never quite caught on to the local fruits up here. Still love the tropical fruits best!!!!

Not much of a pear, or peach lover. I can handle an apple now and again. I do enjoy grapes and all forms of berries (blackberries, strawberries and raspberries too).

Living in Jamaica, I find what I miss most is berries and bing cherries....but I do love most tropical fruit also, especially soursop and paw paw with lime!

growing up in the cooler part of Jamaica we always had strawberries and raspberries.

o yes. the triangular one dem especially, though they can be terribly starchy when dem no ripe properly. but once fully ripe - o delicious!!!

the round one dem no so bad, but to me not as heavenly as the triangular one dem.

ah, persimmons &lt;-- the big ones are on sale 5 fi 10 dalla. sometimes di kitchen table in my path have the small ones 3 fi 1 dalla. the first time mi evva eat dem was when mi si alla di chinese ooman dem a hawk dem up at the kitchen table, mi hax one what it was and shi seh dem nice, soh mi buy three and next ting mi run dung goh buy three more.

i always see these [star fruit]. but i don't know how to eat them, or when to tell if they're nice/sweet or not.

I've purchased starfruit (carambola) in Jamaica in the market....it is a tropical fruit. They are the best when the edges start to turn brown and the flesh is a bright orange, other wise they are quite tart (lip puckering so)....I love them. They make a great display on a fruit salad when you slice them.
