this kind of plum is apparently popular in coastal areas of the US, called <span style="font-weight: bold">beach plums</span>. they are salt tolerant. never had one so don't know how it taste:


another purple plum called a <span style="font-weight: bold">sloe </span>or <span style="font-weight: bold">blackthorn</span>. popular in England for making a concoction called sloe gin. never had the fruit or the gin.

</div></div>Jamaican almonds is different. The trees, theleaves and the shape of the fruits. Jamaican almond fruit does not open. The seed case is also much larger, and the flesh much thinner. Well it seem to just have skin, and not much fruit.

true dat. still tasty to a kid, though, the lickle bit of flesh. when i was little a neighbour had an almond grove and my cousins and i used to search for the dried ones on the ground and crack them open for the seed inside.
