Wid whole heap a Ben Janshson days a yaawd dem time, this was softin di narm fi di survivahs in di hood.

Di ongle ting mek fram karnmeal whey mi did like, is carnmeal dumpling.

Mom used to love cornmeal porridge, wid di cinamon and Betty milk an all a dat, an shi did mek tuncarnmeal fi one Friday dinnah wan time...well yours truly wuddah juss cut har yeye dem haffah ie.

I nevah until dis day jrink cornmeal porridge, but I have made turn cornmeal once in a blue moon...aftah reading this, now, I must do it more oftin...a co-workah of mine juss told me last week of a recipe that she uses in making hers which comes out fab...when yuh look pan har skin and hair...the girl is really nyamming well.

Cornmeal dumpling and cormeal pudding was the only thing about cornmeal that I liked.......I hated cornmeal porridge worse if the lumps dem inna it.......mi madda use to mek it a morning time pon saturdays......only mi baldhead bredda did love it.......him use to tear bread and put it in it.....me fling way fe mi or him nyam mines.......never had it for lunch or dinner......although de bwoy wudda nyam it 24/7.

Mama used to make that sometimes during the week, and wan slice wid di beverage for brekfuss before school..

My older sis and bro used to love di porridge...oh no!! Not *I*

Until this day, I was seen as asnob in primary and even elementary school...due tuh mi finniky eating style..

Followed a girl to har 'ouse dung Chesnut Lane near school, and har modda made karnmeal porridge for lunch...everyone [bout 5 of tehm] partook of what was offered, except me...until now they never forgave me, but Gaawd knows mi nain jrink ie...and hiff mi noh jrink wha mi Modda mek, why mi agguh jrink wha smaddie else made? Sorrie..

Hungry did a kil mi...but mi juss cuddn mek ie pass mi lips muchless mi chroat.

Dat is very good, for that is good nutrition for the young uns right there....

One cup of that to start the day, is better than any cornflakes or odda dry cereal especially in di wintah months.

Mi did hear seh, is dat labourers used to jrink to give them stamina tuh duh hard wuk...and si dere, is chroo for it is well fortified in nutrients...

to cornmeal, Oh how I wish that I had forced myself to love it in those days...now I will have to play catchup.

mi used to love mi cornmeal nuff. we was suffera suh we neva have nuh choice anyway. mi learn fi mek porridge widdout lump - add it to cold water not hot and don't figget fi stir constantly and add salt, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla.

as fi tun cawnmeal, just add some tink makerel to dat and u gone clear

mi wuda mek one cawn pone tonite if mi did have a recipe.
