Stew Peas Variations

Stew peas can be made with so many different meat and non-meat items. What do you use to make yours?

The other day I was talking with a friend of mine who was making a pot of stew peas. I asked what do you put in yours? He said salt beef and cow cod. I never heard of that combination yet. Dunno if I would even like it.

I usually use pigs tail, and sometimes I add oxtail. If I can get it, I use the salt oxtail too. And more often than not, I add coconut milk to the stew.

My father used to make stew peas with chicken foot. It always tasted good, I never made it myself though.

Anyway I cooked stew peas with smoked turkey wings and it was nice.I refuse to eat the piggy tail I will try and get the smoke oxtail

I also put some bacon in when I putin the likkle dumperlings in to give it that taste that you get when the piggy tail is in.

I was told by this jamaican friend of mine from Vancouver that it is missing the Trenton taste wateva the hell dat mean.

btw Pepper Cow cod like in the Cow Penis... is it like an aphrodisiac

going to get chicken foot today ... this girl on dorm was the first one i saw do it and it did nice

I do meatless or with beef or chicken foot ... adale father dont eat turkey neck so mi bother with that ... but I discovered that coconut milk makes it better so I never leave that out ....

I've never seen salt oxtail up here or smoked for that matter.

I always use cocnut milk in my stewpeas and I use salt beef AND pigstail an some regular stewing beef

I make stew peas with black beans, smoked turkey wing, and coconut milk.

mek it wid green lentils. can't mek ie bwile as long tho. make the meat cook first caz lentils don't take long to cook.

pigstail, trotters <span style="font-style: italic">(pigs feet for those not in the know)</span> and beef stew. Also cooked it with oxtail. Love it with the trotters though they get a nice reddish colour and all that gummy goodnes...mmmm mmmm good!

LOL, I like cow cod in soup...yes me know where it come from. Me just nevah hear bout ie in stew peas.

Trenton a the nick name for pork, also called 'that thing'

Me knuh know if dem sell smoke oxtail, is salt oxtail me know bout.

Without meat so vegetarians can eat it ... with all the other ingredients and spices

Do you use soy chunks, or some other meat substitute? Or you just stew peas wid dumplin?

Mi love red peas - the smaller, dark red ones. But mi looooove black beans higher anti-oxidant than red peas??
