Does Montego Bay have a market that sells beef (steaks) ?

Does Montego Bay have any stores that sell a decent variety of fresh or frozen beef products ?

I was in a pretty new/good sized store in Sav Lamaar last time down and although they had a large fresh meat section, there was almost nothing in beef.

I'm debating taking down vac packed frozen strip steaks for a bbq one evening but don't want to risk being taken by customs.

I doubt customs would let you bring in fresh beef to JA. More likely it would need to be pre-cooked as to pose no contamination risk before they let you in with it.

but beef steaks arent eaten in alot in JA overall. Maybe pockets here and ther but it isnt a common thing. When me and my brother wanted a steak, Dad took us to a hotel restaurant hat caters to foreigners

Your best bet is probably through a country 'shop' when they slaughter a cow. But like Nylah said, Jamaicans aren't big on steaks. So that probably doesn't happen too often.

I wonder what they do with all the beef meat??? Maybe grind it up for patties.

there is a butcher in Ochi market where you can order the cut you want. I don't know if Mobay has a market like that though.

I wonder how "goat" tenderloin steak would be ? Those little buggers are all over and can't be too much different than beef.

That's what I would have thought too, but when in Sav Lamaar, I was at a huge modern built strip mall. It had a real big grocery and they didn't have much of anything &quot;beef&quot;, yet they had everything else.
No big deal just thought I would grill up some strip steaks or Tbones one day on the beach. Kinda have that urge after jerk chicken, patties, and local fare several days in a row, which I love btw- just not everyday.

A t-bone in Jamaica....you might have to go to one of the gourmet supermarkets to get that.

You would never go to a local Jamaican restauarant and find t-bone on the menu.

Dem price list ungle include frozen meats. It look like dem mostly sell imported cheaper priced meats. Di fish dem sell nuh swim round di waters off Jamaica.

Plus me nevah like how dem look inside. Dem did too dark and dreary. Me can ungle buy dry goods in dem kinda place.
