So you bought some smoked herring thinking of some long-ago nyaming? Come with your recipes 
Here's mine (I don't have exact measurements):
<span style="font-weight: bold">Pick Up Herring</span>
Two or three smoked herring
White rum
red onion
scotch bonnet pepper
vinegar
In a cast iron pot, place red herring. Sprinkle white rum. Light with matches. Let burn down a little.
When cool to touch, use fingers to tear or bite size pieces of herring. Chop red onion, pepper. Mix with herring. Add vinegar. Mix well. Put in Pyrex dish covered in refrigerator. Eat next day with XLCR crackers.
