I like capers ILP. Maybe some green olives chopped up would be similar in flavor if not texture. I imagine you'd have to use more olives than you would capers because the flavor isn't as intense. You looking for something you might already have around the house, right?

Had some smoked salmon crostini today.
i know cream cheese, smoked salmon, shallots was in it. the person that prepared it said (not to me) that they believed that the capers overpowered the dish. so that is how i know capers was in it.
i have never used capers, but see that they are $), so i am thinking use a substitute until i can duplicate and perfect what i had then add in capers.
