My son, who works on an organic farm & raw foods producer, gave me a lot of items from there when I was coming back to Jamaica from the States.....I decide to make up a recipe with all the nuts & dried fruits he gave me....this is what I used, but I'm sure you could substitute other dried fruits or use less of a variety of nuts.....
Dried bing cherries
Raisins
Dried cranberries
Dates
Walnuts
Peacans
Almonds
Pine nuts
Sunflower seeds
Pumpkin seeds
Unsweetened coconut (to roll them in)
I put a handful of each in the food processer & added a little honey & a little almond butter until it was a consistancy that I could roll into 1" balls (helps to wet your hands a little) & then I rolled in the coconut.
Everybody I gave one to loved them....and I'm talking some fussy eaters too, including my husband. I think they would be great for kids since they are sweet because of the fruit & honey but not TOO sweet.!....healthy too!
