Smaller Black cakes? (like 5- or 7-inch cakes)

Has anyone ever made smaller than 9-inch black cakes?
Like 5-inch or 7-inch cakes?

How much have you cut the baking time by?
Have you ,kept everything else the same?

Should I try it?
I surely don't want to ruin black cake...
I've only ever made the standard 9-inch cakes.

I never make the 9 inch cakes i use the aluminum tins so I can easily package to give to others and I normally cut the time by 1/2 hour but then i monitor it and give it more time if necessary

Twiney is is too late to soak fruits?

I got this bright idea today that i should bake a xmas cake for mr vegas. is two weeks enuff time?

Vegas it is enough time ... I have baked cakes where I bought the fruits and steamed them and had good effect ... so if you have 2 weeks you should be good. If I am baking less than 3 weeks from the soak I steam.

Twiney what is this steaming......do you mean you boil them in the wine/other alcohol mixture

I've boiled the fruits in the alcohol before, also, and had pretty good results.

do u guys blend ur fruits? my mom does it like dat and i prefer it dat way cus mi no like rasins etc. whats the feeling about blending?

Yes I am a fruit blender too (i use the chop function as opposed to puree to maintain texture) ... co-worker tasted my cake and was sharing with her friends they claim it is good ...
