Wine thread

What wines have you enjoyed particularly when paired with a simple meal?

Last week a friend and I sat down to a really delicious rice and peas and curry chicken dinner sharing a bottle of Ferrari-Carano Fume Blanc (about $15. )I visited this Sonoma Valley winery in 2001 so I am always on the lookout for this wine.. Wow. This wine and the curry were perfect together Highly recommend

there are 3 types of wine that I enjoy... dry white wine (particularly pinot grigio, pinot gris and riesling) that is lighter bodied and lighter coloured. for me, best with chicken and fish.

red wine, in particular merlot ... it is just easy to drink and goes well with anything.

but my all time favourite is port wine, specially Taylors vintage port. goes well with anything, even though they say it is best with red meat. this is the only wine where i'll be scrutinizing the warehouse date.

(btw, cooked down liver goes well with port wine. when cooking liver, add a bit of port wine to the pot... the taste is absolute fantastic.)

for the folks that like it light, but cant take Zin and Chardonnay is just too dry.... try this white merlot


and for an everyday drinking riesling...you cant go wrong with anything from them (well maybe except them dry riesling)...

I am at the moment I am into Monticello 2005 from Spain. I have a predispostion to Spanish wine.

Last year I was surprised at the quality of Lebanese wine Chatuea Ksara a catugin grape.

i enjoy a Malbec from Mendosa. Argentina.

watch out for Brazilian wine. I dont drink yanki wine or drive yanki cars for the same reason.

Malbec is the latest Merlot as far as being a popular choice.

Brazilian wine? Do you mean &quot;watch out&quot; in a good or bad sense?

About the &quot;yanki&quot; wine -- yes, please don't drink as that just means more for me
