Miss Enid has gone on to The Other Realm. Her book, The Real Taste of Jamaica, made my life sweeter and more flavorful and I am a better Jamaican cook because of her work. May her soul rest in peace.
I love her anecdotes in the edition I have. For e.g, for her Brown Stew Fish recipe she had this to say:
Once I was interviewing a young man who came for a job as a cook. I asked him to give me an idea of what he would serve at a cocktail party, and without hesitation, he replied "Brown Stew Fish." Since on his application form he stated that his reading preference was 'friction' and 'non-friction' I felt satisfied to say 'NEXT.'
