Peeled green bananas in package

While I was in Kingston last week shopping at a supermarket, a representative from a marketing firm was walking around asking customers to try their new product. It was young peeled green St. Mary bananas.



The shrink wrapped package's listed contents were bananas and lemon juice. It hds to be refrigerated.

I had my doubts as I cooked it the next morning. The bananas were smoothly peeled and very white. Once I boiled them the water turned at little grey but not too much. They cooked quickly and the taste was DELICIOUS My mother and I enjoyed a nice lunch of boiled green banana, lightly brown stew snapper fillet, and bok choi. I prepared two lunches for my mom to store in the fridge.



Haven't seen this product in the US yet. Have you?

I guess it would come frozen in the states, that would affect the taste a bit.

it's a viable product if people can lean outside the box a bit. I;ve seen just about everything in Asian supermarkets from frozen banana leaves to frozen frog legs. hope they do well.

I would have to take a pass on this one. Although I pass on packaged foods as a whole....give me my fresh produce, I will do the rest.

i see it in chinese stores in canada. havent seen it here in ja yet.

I have been doing it myself. peel dem and freeze dem. it saves time plus i dont waste food wen dem ripe up and spoil etc. i freeze yam and all kind a tings cus mi lazy bad.

I only peel when I am in the mood. I mark them, and boil them in their own pot. A squeeze of lime in the water keeps them from turning black.

I slit the bananas on both sides. I spray PAM around the pot so that it does not get sticky when I boil it. Once the banana is boiled I peel the skin off.

Fresh produce= depleted produce. Not that I would lean towards packaged foods however, all the food we nyam seems to be depleted at some level.
