I have a question about the name of fish. So Snapper is universal right cause a so di fish really name, but can I go to the fish market here in the US and ask for Doctor, Parrot and Butter fish? Dem will know wha mi a talk bout? Are those fish known by other names here?
It dpens pan weh yuh liv...since as mi live in a predominantly West Indian naybahood mi can go a di fish store an reques dem type ah fish deh...
If yuh live in a lets say typical hispanic/african american naybahood you might see snapper...but not goat, doctor, or butta an mi speak fram weh mi experience ina NYC....

they have fish wid dose names in NY..the people who sell it say its the jamaican parrot, etc.. ..but my other always swore it did not taste the same and stopped eating it once she moved to 'merica..

Jaded, the fish may not taste the same as they're farmed. the sea salt makes all the difference. that's why i like the wild salmon. they put pink dye in the farmed pink salmon to make them pink [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif[/img]
