A new person begins working in your unit. This person is gay and proud. She is married and makes constant reference to her wife which makes you very uncomfortable not just because of your beliefs (you respect everyone's choice, but dont subscribe to...), but also because its the work place and you do not bring *your* personal issues to work. But yet you feel you are constantly bombarded with stories of what 'the wife said last night' or what she;s rushing home to cook for dinner for the wife. It seems this new person is trying ever so hard to drive home the fact that she's 1). married and 2). thusly entwined with another woman.

Then there are the calls- not excessive, mind you, but it seems to you that new lady is here to wile away the time until wifey comes home to play. And you just have to hear about it, or be considered a homophobe and discriminatory. How would you handle?

Agree with RichD. Also add - is she doing her work? Are her personal calls interfering with the work of others? If so, then this is a work problem that her manager needs to address.

She seems to be doing her work, but there's also more socializing as the rest of the office learns about "life with my lady". The way I interpret it is that this usually happens as people get to know each other at a new job. I think the dynamic in this office has changed though in that (my impression) the office mates never really got that deep into each other's home lives and now they're taking the time to do so, but it seems to be happening during work hours as she's shadowing someone, or just passing by

Manager getting involved can be kinda dicey too. Who's going to report that?

Tell her straight you are work colleagues and you dont like speaking to her...

Invite her for a drink and tell her that you find her partner sexual vibrancy beyond compare....

interrupt her in mid flow "Kindly not inform me in matters pertaining private altercations..."...

Report her to HR for sexual inapproriate behaviour. This is a legitimate strategy.

change the subject

ask her to explain to you what they do.. over and over again.. every time she starts talking about her partner

Tell her you are a homopbobe. there is nothing wrong with being a homophobe..just as long as you dont talk about it...

Describe your self "Danish" and into bestiality.. then describe some animal human sexual encounter.. use ur imagination... hey disgusting works!

But Im also curious about the Danes- whats with their connection to bestiality? And I do not think my imagination can stretch that far. No no and Never! So I wont even propose that as an option for somebody to consider. But do tell about the urban myth or stereotype behind that one.

I cant even imagine someone telling a colleague that they dont like the other person Seems like that would create major tension, or some kind of stalker vibe to try to get the other to see they really are 'nice' and part of 'the team'.

I came to this awareness by accident....

About three years back I was in another Nordic Country having lunch with a group of ex military including Welsh friend of mine a couple english guys having lunch and a group of locals So a sheep shagging discussion ashappens when the Welsh and english get togehter..naturally the discussion widened to porn then the 3 D porn.. then animal 3 D porn...... Among the locals was an extremely attractive young blond female logistic expert at the table. She pipes up. "U know animal sex is legal in Denmark ?" That was a show stopper... and we all were stunned into silence.. with loud expressions of disbelief....

We then pulled out the electronic to google and we discovered this to be true......We then discovered the brilliant quote by a German.."I had a great holiday in Denmark.Denmark is one big animal brothel!

(the fact the lady was blond is merely incidental to the story....but she is one of the best logistic people i have ever worked with expert, my go to person on IMCO terms, Barents Sea, PSV coaster vessels, vessel brokarage, contracts in these areas..but competent, practical funny worldly and comfortable in the company of men....but illustrates the contarian position that blond does not mean dim....despite our resident frumpish prude repeated assertion to the contary... .)

How she knew this is a much debated question... and unfortunately when ever the subject of Denmark and or Maersk comes up I cant help think of the blond lassie and the fact she introduced me to !!!!
