Just got a call from my lil bro' telling me that his best friend is in jail right now.
His friend who I love dearly got into an argument with his wife last night. In the middle of the screaming match she pushed him twice in the chest. By the second shove he got annoyed and shoved her back. She didnt fall or hit anything when he shoved her...He just got her out of his face.
But his MIL who was over that house decided to take it upon herself and call the police. Now, even though he has the money for bail, he cant get out of jail because of the long-weekend.
His wife is hysterical calling his family saying she didnt want to press any charges, etc. - that it wasnt her fault.
Because it is catergorized as a domestic abuse call, the whole process is out of her hands. The province will pursue charges even if she doesnt want to. This is a great feature when women who are truly abused are scared of their husbands/partners but it suxx in this case.
He called my brother and said that this is the last straw. He is divorcing his wife and that is that.
The MIL has interfered in their marriage nuff times over the years and now this may cost him his livlihood. Given his career and the ethical standards enforced in his job, he will automatically lose his position if he is convicted.
No more 10K vacation for this girl anymore
The sad thing is that nobody wanted him to marry this girl....their wedding was the stuff of nightmares
but after they had kids - and lost 2 of them - we all really thought she would change. She was this hot-tempered, fowl mouthed chick but she seemed to calm down and grow up after the kids were born. But her mother has been the thorn in her side because they carry on as thick as thieves most time and the man just goes drinking with his buddies to avoid them at his house.
Now, he is losing everything. I know him and she will never change his mind about any of this but I know it hurts him because he loves his kids bad, bad, bad and wanted a stable home for them.
But he needs to cut his losses and move on cause this is some maddening [censored].
His wife will never break away from her mom and as long as his wife wont learn that him and her are one unit, this crap will play out in future....and things more go even worse.
