Nothing wrong with dating younger men but a 27 year old with a 58 year old seems really weird whether it is the man or the woman who is older IMHO. A 10 year gap works if both people are over 40 but in some cases these are 20+ year gaps.

Probably can't make a blanket statement about these kinds of relationships. [either way for that matter] Generally I don't see them as long term possibilities...and therfore bringing children into the equation MIGHT be a risk...but there will be enough successful exceptions that assuming anything is just as likely going to be a mistake. [and couples of a similar age probably go their separate ways just as readily]

Within limits, age is just a number and there are always exceptions. You're right, being close in age does not guarantee a successful relationship.
