Question for the Men: If a woman goes to a reggae concert by herself.....

A friend of mine asked me this. She wants to go to a concert but no one she know is available to go with her.

I have been to concerts by myself (e.g. classical music and Michael Bublé) and I have never had a problem. I have never been to a concert at a club by myself so I don't know what to advise her.

She says she truly only wants to hear the music (Burning Spear, Sly and Robbie). I would be happy to go but it is in Montreal and I can't travel at this time.

Single, interested in men but some of the creepasauruses that go to reggae concerts....



I've seen them too so I can understand her hesitation.

From what I understand the issue is not the "trying to talk" part. It's the assuming a woman is there for a pick-up and aggressively hitting on, pestering and bothering part she is concerned about. I have seen some of these characters in action in the Jamaican community. It is always the creepasauruses* that behave this way.

Okay so it seems from the limited response that the men won't automatically assume she is "there for a pick-up".

* = Creepasauruses you know the ones how wear kangals and darkas or who have unkempt locks dung to dem knees.

OK HUPDATE.....QUICK UPDATE :ROFL;

Got tired a de noise + love Burning Spear, Sly & Robbie + son got time off so we could spend a couple of quick days with Mom. So even though mi busy wid de people dem wuk....flew down Sunday. Flying back today.

So, after spending Canada Day wid mom, met up with my finicky friend plus a White male friend of mine who loves reggae joined us. Son didn't come. He is more into hip-hop and rap.

Well she had not a ting fe worry about. Other than it being in not the best part of town. It was between the West and East festival zones and there were lap dancing parlours, tattoo places and even a Sex Shop in the areas Lots of small theatres and jazz clubs too thought. It was a medium space with a balcony with bar stool seats and on the main floor there were tables with bar stool seats near the dance floor. We selected one of those.

Sly and Robbie came out first. A White flutist came out first and introduced them. He played the first 2 songs with him. They had an amazing Jamaican Saxophonist Nambo Robinson....Ronald “Nambo” Robinson.




and White American Saxophonist and keyboard player they held their own just fine.

Robbie came out wearin some lickle shawt pants, running shoes and a cap and slinging his base. I didn't see when Sly sat down but he had a red construction hat. The hats covered the grey hair and alas much of their face. Notice when Sly stood up to leave he walks with a can now. He waved at the crowd. They really need to put him on a platform so he is more visible.

They put on an amazing performance. Brought ear plugs. Last time I heard Robbie, he said "squeeze up the base noh Bunny" and all the next afternoon my ears were ringing....I lost some hearing.

Great show drum and bass all the way and they brought out 2 singers one a Jamaican living in England. Robbie sand too. All different styles of reggae

Oh the crowd....sorry mi head no good. About 40% White....some white women with some SERIOUS locks below dem waist.....reminds me of my blonde step cousin-in-law 60% Black including Jamaicans, Haitians and Africans. There was a wide mixture of age groups...even a child, some members of the Hip-Hop generation and a lot of older folks. Only saw 1 kangal. No darkas. 1 guy in a marina came in late. The only person wth locks to im knees was Winston Rodney.
