Toast help...

I just found out I am down to make a toast at a wedding and I have no idea what to say

I have known the bride to be for 13 years and we have a special friendship

Anyways it is not about me and her it is about them and I don't know the groom but I know of him.

Is there anything funny, witty, and general about newly weds that I can include in the toast?

Skells, usually the toast reflect on your friendship towards the bride. I would just say something from your heart. With all those eyes looking at you, you may forget the prepared speech.

You are an especially articulate woman, start with that and the rest will flow.... maybe remember a few special things you've done or shared, or talks u had, that are pertininent to life &amp; love, and speak about them. u don't need to personally 'know' the groom to be able to speak on why your friend is a good catch, or how u feel she go make a wonderful wife fe him, or wish them positivity, blessings, love, and <span style="font-style: italic">good conflict resolution skills</span> in their marriage. (that's always one of my wedding wishes for a new couple- IMO its THE most important thing in a relationship and nobody ever mentions it).

but in any case everyone's all happy and lovey at weddings anyway so you'll have a positive audience from start, so really, whatever you say would be great....

Remind the crowd about the time the bride and you ended up drunk at the Labor Day Carnival wearing nothing but undergarments or the time that both fought over the wukliss mawga bway who ended up dumping both of you. Or maybe the time you evaded the law while while putting the petal to the metal in a Honda Civic on the Belt Parkway.

Then give everyone a glowing tribute your friendship and sit down while everyone's mouth is still agape.

How about starting with or finishing off with a quote?

You can include fun highlights of your friendship, memorable moments, accomplishments she may have made or overcoming obstacles during that time etc...

That's a little long Skelly. Maybe just talk about one experience in the past that will make the audience and make your friend Then wish them both a happy and fulfilling future together.

I agree with B P it sounds too long, especially if folks have't eaten yet. Whatever make it short otherwise folks may start to throw their mints at you.

Hi my name is _____. I have known the bride for over 13 years. _____ is a wonderful person. She is down to earth, a non conformist, and a free spirit, which is why I nearly fell out of my chair when she told me that she was getting married. I was still in shock so I had to come all the way from _____ just to be here to witness it. And I am so happy to be here to share in this special occasion.

I have not met _____ until today but have heard his name being mentioned about 10 years ago. As a matter of fact I still have an email she wrote me about you.
