Out of Your League - Question for the men

I had an interesting discussion with a Jamaican man recently. He said that the concept of "out of my league" does not exist for Jamaican men. If a Jamaican man sees someone he likes, he will go after her and not worry that she is out of his league.

So have you ever considered any woman to be "out of your league"?

If you mean from a cultured standpoint, remember, I have been on both sideds of the cultured fence?

I just choose these days not to swim in those shark infested water. Too much pretentiousness! I more like a down to heart woman, one who is not afraid to give a joke a good hearty laugh, in public, as if her face is going to crack if she laughs.

But back tuh yuh question. Many JA people, whe grow up inna di cultural aspect of our island not tek NO fi an answer. Wi noh know whe name cant. That goes for both Jamaican man, an Jamaican woman. Is just how wi were raised in di community. Wi pretty much si every ting as a challenge.

I agree with that man...People who grow ah Jamaica understand this.. The idea that because u have sinting or think u are "educated"" does not màke any one superior.. I lay this attitude as a good influence of Rasta... All are equal... Only insecure see material as a prerequisite for a relationship... And I have been telling u this for more than a decade...good to know others validate what I have been telling u... But it took u a decade to acknowledge.

So what was wrong with your stepfather that put your mother way out of his league.

And there was nutten wrong wid him. He was ah great dad.

In case yuh don't know, or forgot Jamaica has a light-skin, dark-skin discrimination problem. Also if yuh poor (which he was in dem days, potential or not) and dark skinned, den yuh salt, as wi sey.

Yes, but keeping wid yuh subject, di point is, him was relentless.

I have always said unless a man is a total gorph or looks like Quasi Moto, if he really wants a woman and he pursues her he will get her. A man can wear a woman down with enough persistence.

Unfortunately, a woman can't have the same effect on a man. She can strip down and give him a lap dance and if he ain't interested, he just won't be interested no matter what she does. The man must do the pursuing...always.

This is relevant to the Out of You League discussion.

Sheikh Hamdan’s love life has been the object of much speculation over the years . He remained in a monogamous and serious relationship with one of his half-cousins from 2008 to 2013, despite the fact that he was engaged to his cousin Sheikha Sheikha Al Maktoum. This relationship ended sourly however in January 2013, just a few months before the Prince met his new love. His arranged marriage has also recently been cancelled for reasons that were not made public.
This charming Prince was a well known “lady’s prize” for a long time. He not only writes poetry, but he is also passionate about horses. Affectionately known as Fazza, meaning “the courageous,” the name under which he publishes his poetry, he is known for his strong penchant for fast cars and skydiving. He is a graduate from the Sandhurst Royal Military Academy and also attended the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prince Hamdan even won a team gold medal at the 15th Asian Games in 2006 in a horseback riding competition. He also owns an incredible collections of camels, and he once paid US$4.5 million for 16 beautiful specimens at a camel beauty pageant in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Handsome, brave and exotic: what more could a girl ask for?
Well despite Hamdan’s status and good looks, he had to court the young woman with insistence for over three months before she accepted to start seeing him. The recipient of a Royal scholarship for exceptional merit and psychology graduate from the American Universtiy of Dubai did however end up succumbing to the Prince’s charm and the two rapidly became almost inseparable.
According to rumors circulating in the country, Hamdan’s father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, threatened last November to disinherit his son if he pursued the relationship, but to no avail. The young man chose love over his title and situation, bringing his father to reconsider his position. The Sheikh finally seems to have accepted the situation and even gave his blessing to the new couple.
