What do you make of this strange behaviour by a family member?

You're in Ochi with your family one night. A man pulls up in his car and stops. It turns out is your cousin and you're introduced. You've met the mother many times but not the son. There is a woman in the car but he makes no attempt to introduce her to anyone.

I know what I made of this but a family member who was present sees it differently. So, what do the seasoned home grown yawdies think is behind such bizarre behaviour.

I don't think his behaviour was bizarre, to me this says that his passenger is of no importance to him. He doesn't want his relatives, or passenger to get the wrong idea
