Is bored millionaire an oxymoron?

I know this millionaire. We aren't pals or anything but I have called him from time to time for advice. He was an executive and sold his company for pots of money....over US$90 million. He is a self-made multi-millionaire, started with nothing. Not sure how much he is worth now but NUFF money.

Anyway he retired early, bought a huge mansion with stables and took up polo. Then he and his 2nd wife split up. He sold the mansion. Next thing he was dating this young woman about his daughter's age. He has been spending his time traveling, playing polo and has split his time between here and Florida. He and the young woman split up and every now and then he would post photos of himself on social media with some movie star on his arm.

Well I got an email from him today. He is bored out of his mind so he bought a company and he had gone back to work at its CEO.

We spoke on the phone for the first time in a couple of years and I asked him if he was really that bored. He said "YES!! At first it was fun but after a while I was going out of my mind with boredom and I just couldn't take it anymore." I said that I always say that I don't have a single problem that I don't think could be solved with money. He said "It's not what you expect believe you me. "

It's been over 5 years since he hit the jackpot and all he wants to do now is work.

There is a couple close to where I live that won the Lotto Max lottery some time ago. $50 million. I don't know them personally but enough folks around here do. They were very poor before the win and from what I hear now they are very lonely and bored.

They lost many, if not all of the friends they had when they were poor becuase the money has changed how people look at them and treat them. They have had people they met since the win try to befriend them to take advantage of them so they don't trust anyone.

This is an example those who say if i was rich i would be happy. I guess they don't know what they are getting themselves into.

When person is rich it's better to live a simple life than trying to bose in luxury. You can't find happiness with money alone.

For sure but it will eliminate most of your financial problems and ensure that you arrive in style to handle any other problems.

I still can't believe this guy was bored out of his mind. I thought he was having a blast. Imagine buying a company so he could go back to work. He said that he has been shopping around for something to buy for a while now.

I once had a CEO who retired twice. He had money but he was so bored that he was driving his wife NUTS. She insisted he go back to work TWICE!!! He ended up heading two high tech. companies after 2 failed attempts at retirement.

He was in his late 70s when he died and up until his death, he still had a consulting business and sat on boards for two companies....not that is bored.

If you had been doing business with a company that had a senior executive who turned out to be a self-loathing Indian married to a blonde bimbo who he had shacked up with and gotten pregnant before they got married, would you lose respect for him?
