A restraining order.....Blaming the system....domestic abuse

There is a story in the news here currently, where a woman was stabbed to death in her bed infront of her 3 yo son and the commonlaw husband committed suicide.

now the family of the deceased woman is saying that the system is to blame as it (the system) did not do enough to protect her.

further investigation shows that she lifted the first restraining order she had on the CLH because he asked for another chane. <span style="font-weight: bold">This after </span>she suffered 4 broken ribs at his hand and told the courts that he had threatened the life of both her and her child.

Now you tell me this....the woman (Mary) has family here in the city including a brother yet she is relying on the &quot;system&quot; to protect her.....

Her brother is quoted in the paper yesterday as saying that he talked to Mary's CLH about his drinking and violence but &quot;left it up to god&quot;

Aye sah.

when will we stop blaming the &quot;system&quot; and take responsibility for the choices we make???

</div></div>The only choice I se that woman could take is to get a firearm. since th epolice cannot chain the man to a post. He has the abillity to trespass even with the best restraining ordewr. Did she do that? Or was she one of them whoi believe that guns kull people,but not in cases of self defence??
So they should be banned from use other than police use

A gun would not have helped her in this instance as he stabbed her to death in her sleep as shown by the lack of defensive wounds. a gun is not the answer to everything John wayne.

She at least had defencive wounds.
How di you know that simply because she was aware she had no option,she did not rely on begging him or opeyng him,instead of at least trying to do siomething knowing that she has a gun?
She probably couldn;t stop him from stabbing her,but she could poribably shoot hium after he did

You're talking about the family taking responsibility for not 'protecting' her? Or do you put responsibility on the victim for returning after the warning sign of broken ribs?

You're talking about the family taking responsibility for not 'protecting' her? Or do you put responsibility on the victim for returning after the warning sign of broken ribs? </div></div>

I put the responsibiity on the victem for lifting the initial restraining order AND not turning to her family for help.

What about *his* responsibility? The family should be suing the CLH's family for wrongful death (if such a suit can be filed)- but then there probably isnt a purse attached to teh family..

God help dose who help demself. di news seh over the lass 5 years the couple been together police has been called to the house over and over. she love him to death is all i can say. mi no have sympathy fi dem tings. and har family need fi go siddung. mi just glad him never kill di poor child. aldoe leaving it an orphan is very sad too. hope it finds good loving parents and dotn just bounce from fosta home to fosta home.

So many people are guilty of that sin called Love. Why do so many get it wrong? Love ain't got nothing to do with this craziness.

I agree that if she had a gun, him would not have kicked her butt over and over, especially if she kept it under her pillow.

If a woman show the man that she is helpless and the family is absent, he goes to town on kicking her behind from what I see.

From the first sign of abuse, I would be like Annie and <span style="font-style: italic">Doin' what comes naturally...</span>
