being defensive and being annoyed? after a conference call my colleague called and said "hmm..i thought you sounded a bit defensive just now with so and so" I responded that it was not defensiveness..rather extreme annoyance with the person because they'd really p'd me off..her response was "i was right then..then you were defensive"

no man...defensiveness implies insecurity..I was not insecure..merely reminded the chap what we were there to discuss

Me think Dr. Dudd is right.

The problem is that your reaction was just mislabeled due to your colleague jumping to conclusion. He could have asked why you reacted in the manner that you did, which you would have just told him, but some people just love to use trigger words, to see how them can get you even more annoyed.

It's called projection. She is projecting her feelings/ideas onto you.
