Yup; especially the father or stepfather, as in the opening post.

What is alarming is the statistics; which might be even more alarming if all the cases are reported.

I an an &quot;inlaw&quot; of mine got into a rather heated discussion becozz she was saying that it is very common knowledge that incest is very rampant in Jamaica, and I was in total denial and saying that is a lie. I guess I left yaawd too long, and totally unaware of some things as a result.

However with more and more of these stories coming out because more folks realise that it is better to <span style="font-weight: bold">deal with the truth</span> than to try and sweep it under the rug; [just like the high murder rate] MORE CHILDREN MIGHT BE SPARED the awful experience. In addition to this, more perverts will be locked away from the society at large and more children might be a little safer..

Having said all that, I see where it has been recommended that children as young as 5 start receiving &quot;education&quot; on these matters. As young as they are they should not be &quot;shielded&quot; from such information.

True thing, I have a best friend who was raped very early in her life and was impregnated. She was labeled as being fast, imagine that. Girls and women period go through so many things and just keeps quiet about it. Many say you should tell, but then there&quot;s a chance that you won't be believed.

No she never told. Yes she had and loved the baby. He just passed a couple of months ago due to a cancer. He was the best, and I'm so glad he was in my life.

Back to my original opening remark. Many of the women are co-conspirators where incest is concerned...Jack Mandorah.


One seldom hear of the &quot;so-called MOTHERS/STEPMOTHERS&quot; defending the VICTIMS....some in fact turn on them...read a case of where the mother told the girl to move out...::dutty ooman:: some in fact, DEFEND the perpetrators, and thereby encourage the abuse. such women should be apprehended as well; like the grandmother in this case...how could she? How? How?

Even if it was to &quot;rescue&quot; the child from the abuse, if she didn't want har DUTTY SON to go to jail. Now..<span style="font-weight: bold">

I was not sure of how to deal with it, as my theory was that she would have to tell the police the entire details. She was now in her late teens, going to college and I did not want to put her through all of that again.

The woman in this particular case was beside herself when she heard of the abuse on her daughter.

What else could be the outcome in such a dysfunctional family? It didn't eventually start to break down...it was broken dung arreddi..the child's revelation just cemented the reality.

One of my cousins went through this. Her mom's nasty boyfriend raped her, she told two people in our family. She didn't dare tell her brother because he would have killed him. She ran off and got married to her high school boyfriend who was in the army in another state to get away.

Years later she finally told her mother, who called her a liar and wouldn't believe her. Mr. nasty raped another girl and her parents pressed charges against him and he has been in jail ever since. My cousin testified about the creep in court and her blastid mother didn't even support her in court.

Many victims won't tell because they are trying to protect their family members.

There are many ppl out there who don't even bother to report these nasty acts/abuses because they are filled with guilt and shame, some of them even think it is their fault that they got raped.

Another reason why some of these perps are still walking the streets.

Couple months ago mi had a conversation wid a dear friend of mine who told me about her childhood molestation (ooooh how obviously painful it still is even though she is now 55). The perp is now dead so she felt a need to share and still tremble while sharing.

Her gardian at the time use to send her to visit &quot;other relatives&quot; every Sunday afternoon and that's where the perp lived... he was only too glad to see her coming up the lane so he could repeatdly abuse her (every week). Her guardian wouldn't entertain her desire &quot;not to go&quot; cause apparantly she needed her Sunday evening &quot;privacy&quot;.

I'm recommending therapy, but she very reluctant! Seh she feel fi goh kick the grave instead.
