My youngest daugher

[Fyah]

Went on her first date on Saturday night.

Dressed up and everything.

My husband was her date...

A few years ago, he said that he would do it so that he could could set the expectations for his daughters and so they could chose wisely...when the time is right.

erlittle sis, because she said her date with dad was the most perfect date she'd ever been on.

I think it is great, especially the exciting discussions that take place before and after their date.

My husband pulled out all the stops...from opening the doors to pulling out the chairs to thanking her for a wonderful evening...things he doesn't even do for me anymore. LOL

What are your thoughts on this? Would you encourage it or teach your sons the ropes by taking them out?

i think that is very sweet and sets the stage for how a lady should be treated on a date

I'm ambivalent about the idea- it would have to be couched properly... honestly, the thought of 'dating dad' weirds me out a little bit.

But we teach our kids all kinds of things, it will probably be a highlight in her life. Have they seen dad do these things with mom?

I thought it was nice way for dad to take a daughter out to show the little things (aka the good manners) a young man should show a woman on a date

I always think too much I'm completely aware of the intent, and gave my opinion.... I think what matters more than one date though, is that the message is clearly seen in the home between the 2 adults

yes I agree with your second phrase the message must be seen between the two adults in the home

some families do this often where the father/mother spends one on one time with each child, out to dinner, movie or let the child choose the activity.

Exactly the idea, although he said he made it clear that he is daddy and daddies are always right. LOL!

Nothing more than teaching them the ropes, as he knows it.

They have experienced dad dating mom (although not much lately)...from the time they were old enough (at 3 yrs old) to say <span style="font-style: italic">&quot;mom you look pretty and dad you look handsome not pretty just handsome&quot;</span>.

My husband enjoys it as he claims there were things discussed between them that will stay that way. He's just trying to make me jealous, because my daughter whispered and told me that she only shared with him what I already know.

we call it daddy &amp; daughter time

and we have mother son time

My girls enjoy telling their friends about their date with dad. In fact their friends couldn't wait to hear about it!!!

Mind you, I said it was her first date...she only saw it as a great night out with her dad, all by himself. She had the choice not to go, but was silly with excitement when she was asked.

Many of their friends wish they had a dad to take them, but he is off limits. One date with HIS daughters only.

Our ADULT imaginations can sometimes be the death of life's experiences. Either way, if more fathers were around to experience what my daughters and my husband have experienced, our young women and young men would not only demand more from each other, but would be more responsible for their actions.

I am happy that we are able to give our children what they deserve...the best experiences we can offer, without ADULT hangups.

yes I understand Spots..and I think it is wonderful...the best message you can give your children is not what you tell them but what you show them

And if your husband was willing to take her out on a date and &quot;show her the ropes&quot; I am pretty sure he behaves the same manner when he takes you out on dates...and that in itself speaks volumes.

Wonderful to see active INVOLVED parents in this day and age
