Well, my boss came back yesterday after spending a week in the Phillipines, meeting his internet gf of 4mths for the first time. He had to go and check her out in real life to see if she was "The One".

I must admit, it was me who told him if he thought it was real, check her out sooner, rather than spend months and months chatting on the webcam and then getting disappointed at the end. He has a very 'fixed' mind (a bit OCD with things) and does spend a lot of time 'mooning' and getting all romantic on his <span style="font-weight: bold"> pink fluffy love cloud </span> DWL <span style="font-style: italic">says me wid mi shribbeled up heart!!! </span>

Anyway, I walk into the office, and here he is with a cheshire cat grin...The cat that got the cream look

Weeellll...In one rush of words, he tells me he is engaged, shows the pic of her with ring on, and then says he is going back to get married on her bday in November

Most people never think of a 27-year-old career woman like me when they hear the words mail-order bride. They imagine someone who doesn't speak English, who's been shipped in, like property, to be subservient to her husband. &quot;Are you allowed to go out on your own?&quot; an acquaintance once asked me. Another person wanted to know whether I had a curfew -- seriously. If someone associates me with those kinds of stereotypes, Steve and I both get upset, because it's degrading. But I try not to take it too personally. I'm not ashamed. My husband and I love each other and have been married for six years, longer than many couples we know. Plus, immigrants usually have complicated stories -- and I'm certainly no exception.

My story starts where I grew up, in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, a smoggy factory city with a population of about one million. I was born Valeriya Sorokina, or Lera for short, and grew up in a cramped one-bedroom apartment with my mother, father and brother. My parents were doctors, but that doesn't make you rich in Ukraine. We lived on what was probably the equivalent of $5 a day. Every morning before I left for school, my parents would give me a quarter for bread and the bus, and it had to tide me over until dinnertime.

I don't think this will happen, as they are both Christians and have put God first in their internet relationship. Plus I have known my boss for 16yrs. (I was good friends with his nutty exwife ) And so I know him fairly well!! I do know tho, that he loves a woman to dote on him, and praise him, and then he supplies the gold card

BUT...yes, I am concerned about a lot of things on both sides. This girl is going to come here to a strange country, knowing no one..(But parents seemed happy enuff to let her go!!) Her sister has married a Norwegian off the internet, and is going there to live...

And I am also concerned for him, that he has let his 'little head' do the thinking when he has met her, and rushed into this, not knowing the woman for longer than one week!!

i met a couple of women that came to the states - mail order - so to speak

the marriages didn't last - i think men that go that route have &quot;issues&quot; and go for these women that just want OUT

where i am (along with most places i've lived)there are more men than woman - so why travel half way around the world looking for one

Seemiyah Yes, it could work as they both wanted to be married.

She fit his criteria = christian, no children, younger, petite, long hair, slim body...oh hang on...sounds like a stereo type!! dwl (He didn't want a kiwi, as we all have....baggage!!! ) He got fixated on Filipinos and would spend hours scouring thru the internet checking out profiles.

Her criteria = christian, white, tall, own business...well, I guess that was her criteria (as her sisters norwegian husband looks soooo similar to my boss!! )

His talked to me yesterday about leaving home and his options He has been daddys boy for a long time, and thinks his dad is mad

((( Seveen ))) Ya know????? He has big issues, and yet cloaking it all with his 'born again' coat. She doesn't know what a hornets nest his exwife and exfiance over here create at times!! Like I said, he has OCD and it is a pattern of his, that he HAS to have a gf on his bday (13Aug) What is it with these Leo males???

Anyway, mi run gone now. Have to go into work!! And today if I see him on that <span style="font-style: italic">damn webcam again </span> I am going to Cos he sits there with a big goofy look on his face, and they wave at each other and blow kisses DWL!!!!!!!

btw...He went down to the Post Office at lunchtime yesterday (only got back on Sunday night) and paid for their wedding...really cheap 'package deal' apparently Apparently the sum paid is for up to 100 guests, food, drink, wedding dress, his suit, entertainment...and NO SON!!!

The CEO for a company I used to work for picked his Russian wife out of a catalog on the internet. This was in the lat 1990's. He would brag how he bought her new teeth before they got married. Last I heard they were still married.

Many times I considered this option myself but was afraid of the scenario where they arrive here and then won't give you rooks until you sponsor their whole family to come.

One thing I've learned is in the end, people are gonna do what they want to do.

It's nice to let him know you're concerned and that you care, but if he's determined and you try to talk him out of it, it may come back to bite you. Tread lightly my friend.
