so my downstairs neighbours..who i'm very good friends with and have known for about 3 yrs...have a brother coming to visit..they have a small apt so there's no where for him to stay....and for a bunch of reasons hotels are not a preferable option...

since I have spare rooms in my apt they've asked if I would consider letting him sleep in my apt..and he would leave early every morning to spend the day with them...he would pay me a hotel rate..

brother is proabably in his 60s (if dat makes a difference0

what do yawl think? is that a strange request?


I already know what I'm doing..just curious to hear some other opinions

I think it is a weird request for my neighbor to ask of me. You mean seh dem nuh have pull out couch ? or one air bed ?

nuh betta if the friends did stay in your place since you know THEM and not a stranger

My family when ever we visit each other we sleep pan each other couch, bed, floor if necessary so that we can be together, and none a we nah guh ask nuh friend if we relative can stay wid dem.

dem have B&B in BK and hotel downtown BK suh wah the problem ?

shortly after I moved to Chicago, my parents and 2 brothers visited ... at the time I was living in a studio

my parents slept on the futon and my brothers and I were lined up (literally) on the floor

if i felt to be the good samaritan, i'd prefer allow my friends to stay at my place, and the relative to stay in my friends place. not too keen on a person i've never met, settling in to my place.

If I knew the neighbours well and had clear understanding of the exact length of his (SHORT) stay and made it VERY clear that he cleaned up after himself, I would probably do it.

Seems like an odd request. Have you ever met this brother? Suppose he has a horn growing out of his head.

If they were very good friends (3 years seems like a short time to me), and I had met the brother on previous occasions, I would do it.

If I had know these people a loooong time, lets say 20+ years. I would accept the brother without seeing him first. Although, I would still think it is an odd request.

this is my neighbour who I love to death..but whose completely nuts sometimes me really wanda if summen wrang wid har or if she on/off meds.. aye sah..

anyway eccentricity muss run in the family..the bredda..nu waan gu a B&amp;B cause apparently he's introverted and afraid he might be forced to socialise...Hotels close to us are pricey

i hear yawl bout dem juss finding some space for him..but <span style="font-style: italic">to me </span> they seem to have strange ideas about sharing space...last yr his trip to visit her was canceled sake a de same space ting...when she went to visit him..she stayed in a hotel....personally me tink fe de one or 2 nights they could get a blow up bed an mek du in the living room..but dat not acceptable to dem

To answer your question I would say you are not comfortable with the idea and suggest they get an aero bed fi dem place.

I would do it if my husband is there with me. If I were single, there is no way I would invite a strange 60 yr old man to spend any time at all in my apt.

If I feel guilty about not helping, then I would invite the neighbor to stay with me and let him stay in her place.
