Believe it or not it is the first evidence of adulthood. welcome.
I just hope it was not too much of a dowmfall. Only experience teaches that anyway. You hav eto start out trusting to learn how to stop being so,fir resaal. it can be very hesrt rending to do so sometimes, but it save you lots of jurt. The problem is that you can turn into a total pessimist like myself. If someone goes out of their way to introduce themselves to me or to be friendly towards me I tend to withdraw and to build a wall because I automatically expect that they want something form me. I need to learn to start trusting people again.
