DETROIT -- A woman with glass in her neck and back from a car explosion two weeks ago on Detroit's' west side turned herself into police.
Police said the woman used commercial grade fireworks to blow up her ex-husband's vehicle as it was parked in front of his new girlfriend's home on the 1500 block of Monte Vista.
Doris Cabean-Giles wasn't able to escape the Sept. 3 explosion fast enough, police said. As she ran from the explosion, she was pelted in the back and neck with glass from the windows.
Nobody else was injured in the blast.
The explosion ripped the roof off the vehicle and shook the neighborhood.

Investigators are still trying to determine if Cabean-Giles intended to injure her ex-husband or just send him a message.
"If you have ever had an ex-wife -- you know the answer of that question," laughed Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans. "The answer is: who would know."
Cabean-Giles turned herself into police Wednesday. She was taken to the hospital to have the shards of glass removed and collected for evidence.
The 42-year-old Detroit woman will be formally charged Thursday afternoon with placing an explosive device near property causing damage, a 30-year felony, and malicious destruction of property, a 10-year felony.
