I’m not knocking interracial relationships at all, but I’ve got to get one thing off my mind. To all of the African-American men out there, I ask you one thing: Is there something wrong with us African-American women? It’s terrible that a black man can’t find love within his own race. Instead, he runs off to a white, Latino, or any race woman for “love.”
I don’t know where to place blame. Is it the media that always tends to portray the black woman as a neck rotating, finger wagging, teeth sucking, full of negative attitude person? Or is it the black woman who feels there is no other way out of a hard situation so she must settle into something she’s not? Stop stereotyping all black women as full of drama and havoc. I went to a four-year college and am still working my butt off to become successful.
If I’m not mistaken, there are more women than men in colleges nationwide. I’m sure these women are striving if they’re not already successful. We’re strong and beautiful, but constantly overlooked. If a black guy does end up in a relationship with a black female, she’s usually on the brighter side of the spectrum. Please believe, not all of us are looking for a man with six figures in the bank to blow on things that change with the season. Some of us do want someone to love. We want men that when we’re together, we’re a powerful force when it comes to life and love.
Give us a chance instead of running away as soon as something goes wrong. To anyone in an interracial relationship and reading this, don’t get me wrong, I do respect your relationship, especially if you’re in it for the right reasons: real love and companionship. But, to those that feel that the African-American woman is worth nothing, stop being ignorant and wake up!
