i don't totally live in a destitute area don't get me wrong. we have "starting from $300K lofts<-
--- anyway it's downtown. and i live (not life - big differece) in one of those in this sketchy nabes that's being gentrified with the art galleries, coffee shops and what have you.
on bloor street there's a half way house on bloor street above ciro's (high end beer bar). when i take the god out for a walk,
i find there's usually someone screaming, naked, passed out or what have you on the vomit line. (bloor street is the vomit line - transit that runs 24/h). but most of the time it's okay. i wouldn't have it any better. lived in the city most of my adult life. saw shoot outs. thought it was fake. found out in the news it wasn'nt. feh.

Sounds like fun....maybe like the Pioneer Square area in Seattle where all the high end design shops are across the street from "everything colorful" goin on, or near Pike St. Market where there are really cool condo bldgs. 5 blocks away from peep shows. Or the Capitol Hill area there too. I read your posts a while back so I kinda had an idea.
