Is it true that in Jamaica we white girls are so called 'worshiped'?
I've been hearing all this stuff about rent a dreads and jamacian men loving us white girls and all and i'm wondering if that stuff is really true? So if i go to Jamaica i can really rent a Jamaican man friend and do what ever i want with him?
So the Jamaican man would buy me something to eat, buy me goodies, pay for my resort and play on the beach/have fun on the island with me as long as i rent him?
I'm going to Jamacia with my best friend this summer as a get away trip because we just graduated highschool and we wanted to go somewhere exotic and be 'free' for a while before we start college; We've been wanting to do this for years but the only problem is that she's black though and were both from america but since this 'rent a dreads' is only for white women like me then she can't get a Jamacian man right only me? Everyone says jamacian men are all over us white girls when we get there. Would i look like an idiot going to Jamacia with a black american since Jamacians hate black americans? She's not going to look for men but i am and i'm kind of emberassed to go with her because of that, and i'm thinking if i should just tell her i don't want to go with her and i can just go with my sister in january instead. I don't want to be seen with her if she's going to make me look bad as well. Has anyone here ever 'rented a dreads' if it's true? How can i get one? Also, does anyone have any excuses that i can tell my friend that i don't want to go with her anymore? Thanks!

Even if i was to go with my friend, i wouldn't want all the men hitting on me and then her getting jealous because none are hitting on her. So i think it's best she dosen't go to keep her from getting jealous of me. I just don't know how to tell her she can't go.

1. Jamaican men r not all over white girls - FALSE, they r all over ur money.
2. Jamaicans do not hate black americans - huh, hilarious.
3. You wud be embarrassed when they r hitting on her bcuz they like her for her and u for money - ha
4. U r not a good friend if u wud ditch ur friend bcuz of that.
5. Its not safe to travel just to meet men, unless u r a 'hoe', ur friend is smarter than u.

we don't know what website boopie found that on... this could be from some general website with zero true knowledge of Jamaica, or any of the stuff 'we' discuss about what goes on between tourists &amp; residents. also the poster stated that she was just out of high-school (or somethin like that); seems pretty clear she is well inexperienced and clueless, and repeating gossip she has heard. the entire post reads like a dumb high-school kid's way of thinking.

all kinda ppl out there know nothing about jamaica and even LESS than nothing about relationships, race-relations, or the whole dynamics of sex and tourism, and/or how the Stella thing has affected jamaica. i think it's actually probably the norm that ppl in general are totally ignorant about these things. Many Jamaican ppl, and those of us who frequent the island, have heard &amp; discussed many different POV's &amp; stories about these stereotypes and various and sundry versions of them, we're well used to this topic. but i think the general population who hasn't been there, and doesn't go on the jamaican websites &amp; BB's, probably truly has ZERO clue.

hence, this kind of ignorance out on the www. (smdh)
