Police have charged a woman for attacking a five-month-old baby.
The Star understands that the tot survived an attack by a woman over a week ago when he was snatched from his mother's arms, flung to the ground and kicked.
It is understood that the attacker and the mother of the infant, a 19-year-old woman, both have babies for the same man. It is however said that the man, who is in his early 20s, recently got married to the 19-year-old, kicking the other baby mother, who is older than both the newly-weds, to the curb.
This move did not go down well with the ex, however, and some two Thursdays ago the woman, who has three other children, decided to make her disgust known.
confrontation
It is alleged that on that day, the 19-year-old was walking with her baby along Waltham Park Road in the Corporate Area when the older woman confronted her. Reports are that an argument developed and she grabbed away the baby from his mother, threw it to the ground and kicked it. The infant had to be brought to hospital for immediate medical attention.
While attempts to get information from the police on the matter were unsuccessful, a medical professional close to the situation, confirmed the incident.
Speaking with THE STAR yesterday, the doctor said: "The baby had swelling at the back of the head and in the chest." The doctor said luckily the infant did not suffer any broken bones. He confirmed that he was also made aware that it was an ex-girlfriend of the infant's father, who attacked the child out of apparent jealousy.
The matter is set to go before the courts this week.
